Edward Heavey

Edward started his career with the longstanding practice of JA Kenny and Partners in Dublin. Having had many years experience as a Senior Engineer with JA Kenny and Partners Edward set up Heavey Kenny Associates in Galway in 1989 after JA Kenny and Partners went into voluntary liquidation. He is the Principal of the company and oversees all operations and projects within the company. Edward has over 30 years experience in the organisation, planning, design, programming and budgetary control of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services.Professional Qualifications:

  • CEng, MCIBSE, MIEI, AMEI, RConsEI

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.
  • Member of Engineers Ireland.

Michael Farnan

michael_farnan_final Michael Farnan started his engineering career working with consulting building services engineering firm J.A. Kenny & Partners from 1972 to 1988.From 1988 to 1991 Michael worked with Digital Corporation Galway in the capacity of in-house Project Engineer.Since qualifying as a Chartered Engineer in 1991 Michael has worked for over 20 years as a Consulting Building Services Engineer and has worked on an extensive range of projects from inception to completion including educational, healthcare, domestic, commercial etc.Michael joined Heavey Kenny Associates in a Senior Engineer position in November 2014Professional Qualifications:

  • MSc., CEng. MIEI, MCIBSE

John Carr

John Carr began his career as a draughtsman in 1977 with JA Kenny & Partners in their Galway office and continued when Heavey Kenny Associates was founded in 1989. John progressed to a Senior Building Services Technician position and has over 25 years experience in design & supervision.Professional Qualifications:

  • GMIT – H.V.A.C. Technicians Certificate Part 1 & 2 with Credits
  • Ongoing BA/BSc Degree at The Open University

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.

Derek O’Brien

Derek O’Brien graduated in 1996 from the National University of Ireland, Galway with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering. Derek joined Heavey Kenny Associates in 1997 and has over 16 years experience in the design & supervision of Building Services on a wide and varied range of projects. Derek achieved his Chartership in 2008.Professional Qualifications:

  • CEng, BEng in Mechanical Engineering
